lery (Taiwan) Assn. will be in St. Charles, Missouri,
12-15 October 2000.
The reunion is open to all
members and family members of those who served
in Taiwan during the Taiwan Straits Crisis of 1958.
This includes members of 2/71 Artillery, as well as
members of the 178
th
Ordnance Detachment, 1
st
Signal Detachment, 31
st
Engineer Detachment,
554
th
Ordnance Company, and Augmentation
(Signal) troops.
The reunion headquarters will be the Holiday Inn
Select in St. Charles/St. Peters, Missouri.
We have included a form for you to fill out where
you can indicate the activities you will attend, and
number of people participating. The form includes
the cost of each activity, and we ask that you send
in a check to cover those activities by 1 Sep 2000.
Most of the activities have to be paid in advance of
the reunion.

From the Editor
This edition of the newsletter is packed with information
about the October 2000 Reunion, the April 2001 trip to
Taiwan, our efforts to obtain the Meritorious Unit Citation
for 2/71’s service in 1958-59, excerpts from the 1959 After
Action Report, and notes from our membership.
Please make your best effort to attend the reunion and enjoy
the camaraderie of those who experienced what you experi-
enced forty-two years ago. Make your commitments early,
and send in your reservation form by 1 September.
