2006 Reunion
Hey troops! Time is flying and we are only fourteen
months away from our reunion in Rapid City, SD. The dates
are 28 September through 1 October 2006. We will furnish
the final schedule of events in the next newsletter and will
ask at that time for advanced registrations. This will give us
an indication of those who plan to attend. Willard and Pat
Ottman live fairly close to Rapid City (at least in the State).
They have checked out the hotels, recommended the
Ramkota Hotel, and are working on a day trip to Mount
Rushmore and other attractions in the area.
Make plans to attend now. As you know, and can see by
the news below, we are losing some of our members and the
health of others is failing. Take advantage of this opportu-
nity to visit with old Taiwan hands.
Start now to contact a buddy and make arrangements to see
each other at the reunion. If you need an address, telephone
number, or e-mail address of someone on our mailing list,
write or call Bob Mackintosh (see newsletter letterhead). If
you need help finding someone who is not on our mailing
list, contact Bob with the name and any information you
have on the person, such as where his family lived when we
were in Taiwan. This information will be used to search the
internet for possible matches. You will be sent this informa-
tion to follow-up and possibly make contact with your
Taiwan buddy. It won’t work unless you check it out.
START NOW! MOVE OUT SMARTLY!

From: Carmen Stohlman (widow of Robert, 554

Dear Family and Friends,
It is with sad heart that I tell you that the Lord called Bob
home on April 12, 2005.
Since July 2004, after suffering 2 falls, he had been going
down physically and mentally. At first he was in a rehab
Center because of a fractured leg, and afterwards in a
Nursing Home as he needed a lot of care, which he could not
receive at home.
On April 5, he was taken to the hospital with pneumonia
and a blood infection, and as we all know he was a real
fighter. With all the past broken bones, plus surgeries he
always bounced back. He had requested no “heroics” and so
he was kept comfortable – no tubes, no pumps and no pain.
Now he is with our Heavenly Father.
He was always extremely proud of his military service, so
he will be buried on July 7, 2005, at 10:45 A.M. in Arlington
Cemetery with full military honors.
I give thanks for our 62 years together and 2 wonderful
sons who have been my support. Life goes on for those of us
left behind and we must make adjustments. We must not
lose our faith and God will give us strength to keep going.
Amen.
(P.S.)
Dear Bob and Lois:
For so many years Bob planned on going to the reunions,
but he had a lot of health problems – 5 hip surgeries – 4 heart
